The opening of an exhibition of paintings by Stanisława Jarmakowicz, a teacher, painter and poet, took place on Thursday, 1 March, at the Gallery of II Liceum Ogólnokształcącego in Bolesławiec. Among those attending the exhibition opening were Renata Czerwińska, head of the Department of Development and Promotion of the County at the County Office, Stanisław Zmaczyński, a City Councilor, and Wiesława Olczyk, who runs the University of the Third Age in Bolesławiec.

The profile of Stanisława Jarmakowicz was presented by Mirosław Sakowski, director of II LO. “Mrs. Stanisława has two passions: words and images,” he said. “She has been painting fantastic pictures for 55 years. Her first watercolors were created in 1957. Her works have been exhibited, among other places, in Zielona Góra and Bolesławiec. Mrs. Stanisława’s second passion is words: she writes prose and poetry. She has published five volumes of poetry.”

The artist herself then spoke, emphasizing that everything she has to say is contained in her paintings and poems. Everyone gathered at the Gallery of II LO had the opportunity to hear several of the painter’s texts.

On the same day, the school also opened the exhibition “Spat-upon Dwarfs of Reaction,” prepared on the basis of materials from the Institute of National Remembrance. The exhibition is dedicated to the Cursed Soldiers. “Poland regained its independence in 1989. However, it was still necessary to fight for the memory of these soldiers for the following years,” said Martyna Mularczyk, a student of II LO, during the opening. “The symbolic restoration of the honor they deserved was the establishment of 1 March as the National Day of Remembrance of the Cursed Soldiers.”

The exhibition opening was preceded by a presentation about the Cursed Soldiers, prepared by Martyna Mularczyk, Mateusz Chmielik, Aleksandra Koska, Magdalena Brzana and Nikodem Kuczyński.
