V Preschool Song and Dance Festival at the kindergarten on Dolne Młyny Street opened with a concert by the well-known Bolesławiec group Poeticon from BOK-MCC. The children also watched multimedia presentations, “Folk Musical Instruments” and “Folk Costumes”.
The children took part in drum workshops led by Maciej Maczel. Their happy faces and engagement showed that learning to play the loud instrument gave them great pleasure. The lessons were complemented by rhythm classes accompanied by piano, conducted by teacher Mariola Swoboda.
The children were also introduced to the life and work of Fryderyk Chopin. The preschoolers listened to poems and stories about instruments and musicians, recognized the sounds of various instruments, created music using plastic film, newspapers and bottles, and sang, danced and took part in numerous music-based games.
During art classes, the children made percussion instruments from plastic bottles and containers, cans and flowerpots. At home, with their parents, 38 children made instruments for a competition. String instruments, rattles, pipes and drums were created from cardboard, plastic, colored paper and other objects. In recognition of the great commitment of both the children and their parents, the jury awarded first place to all participants. The winners received certificates and small gifts.
The final event of the Preschool Song and Dance Festival aroused the greatest excitement. Each preschool group presented two folk songs and one dance. Soloists from the youngest group sang “Kurczątka” and “Kwoka”. The youngest children performed the Silesian dance “Grozik”. The middle group danced “Lender”, while soloists accompanied by a choir sang “W murowanej piwnicy” and “Zasiali górale”. The oldest children sang “Malowany wózek” and “Gdzieżeś ty bywał, czarny baranie?” and danced the Krakowiak. The Festival’s guest of honor was the “Mały Bolesławiec” Song and Dance Ensemble, whose performance enhanced and enriched the celebration.
The festival showcased the children’s vocal and dancing skills and talents. For the youngest children, performing before a large audience, despite the event’s relaxed nature, was somewhat stressful. However, once they took the stage, every preschooler behaved like a true professional. The event brought the preschoolers much joy, and they will certainly remember it for a long time.
The festival was organized and conducted by teachers: Iwona Witczak, Beata Grabas- Jaśkiewicz and Dorota Berestecka. The organizers sincerely thank the institution’s director, Ewa Niziołek, as well as the staff of the Youth Cultural Center in Bolesławiec and the Bolesławiec Cultural Center–International Ceramics Center for their help in preparing the event.
