As Radio Wrocław learned, the court in Jelenia Góra suspended the criminal proceedings against the Germans for a probationary period of two years. However, the three Germans must each pay PLN 2,000 to a children’s home in Jelenia Góra. The defendants’ lawyer argues that his clients did not intend to offend anyone, but only to initiate a public discussion about Polish-German history. The Germans who were punished may appeal the decision.
Posters with anti-Polish content appeared, among other places, in Bolesławiec in July last year. They were put up at bus stops and on notice boards. Their content suggested that Poles had murdered Germans on a mass scale and that expelled Germans were demanding the return of their property.
