Officers from Bolesławiec received information from emergency medical service staff that a man was sleeping on one of the benches in the town. He turned out to be a 44-year-old homeless man. He was drunk. He had more than 6‰ of alcohol in his system. Thanks to the vigilance of Bolesławiec residents, the man was rescued from freezing to death.

As part of the police “Winter 2011/2012” campaign, officers inspect places where homeless people may stay. Police officers also pay attention to people under the influence of alcohol (they are the ones most at risk of freezing to death), provide information and help them reach facilities offering support to homeless people and others requiring care.

Police officers appeal to all residents of Bolesławiec County to report anyone they notice lying or sitting on the ground, on benches, at bus stops or in garden gazebos who might be at risk of hypothermia. Let us not be indifferent! Our reaction may save someone’s life.
