The Bolesławiec County Office, together with the Bolesławiec military unit, organized a ceremonial commemoration of the 60th anniversary of victory over fascism. Representatives of all veterans’ organizations, as well as the local authorities of the municipalities and Bolesławiec County, gathered in the square in front of the monument to the Second Polish Army. Color guards from local secondary schools and the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association were also present.
After wreaths were laid at the monument and the ceremonial roll call was held, starosta Krzysztof Konopka, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Poland, honored members of the Bolesławiec branch of the Siberians Association with the Cross of Siberian Exiles.
The decorations were awarded to: Jadwiga Brandy, Halina Budziszowska, Józef Cichocki, Stanisława Guszpit, Maria Jankowska, Eugenia Kubaszewska, Kamila Mikulska, Arcyz Mikulski, Stanisław Ślizga, Urszula Skiba, Helena Skiersinis, Antoni Skopa and Michał Sobczyszyn.
The ceremony concluded with a communal military pea soup meal and a shooting competition for the cup of the commander of the Bolesławiec military unit.
