A student of the II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec, Rafał Sapeta, received a distinction in the 7th edition of the Golden Pen Literary Competition, held under the patronage of, among others, Lower Silesian Voivode Marek Skorupa, Wrocław Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz, and Bishop of Legnica Stefan Cichy. The main prize was funded by the President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski.

The competition was very strong: approximately 200 entries were submitted from across the voivodeship. Rafał wrote a philosophical essay entitled “»For freedom is given to us by God, it is not only given to us by God, it is also entrusted to us!« (John Paul II) – Your voice in the debate on understanding human freedom.” The work was prepared under the supervision of Katarzyna Kwaśniewska and Danuta Pławiak. The award ceremony took place in the Grand Hall of Wrocław Town Hall.

Meanwhile, Kamila Drejws, a student of class III b, received from Lower Silesian Superintendent of Education Beata Pawłowicz a scholarship awarded by the Prime Minister. The ceremony took place on 29 November in the John Paul II Auditorium of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. Kamila was among the 275 most talented young people from Lower Silesia.

The scholarship holder attends a humanities-oriented class. She achieves very high academic results. During the previous school year, she qualified for the district stage of the Polish Literature and Language Olympiad and received honours promotion (grade average: 5.08).
