I Liceum Ogólnokształcące has been organizing celebrations of the European Day of Foreign Languages since 2003. This school celebration is intended both to educate and entertain. Each year, individual I LO classes prepare stands representing countries selected earlier by drawing lots. On Monday, November 28, the school halls were filled with a true kaleidoscope of colorful figures.
The winning stands were presented by the following classes: II a (the United States) and II b (Greece). Third place went to class I a (Brazil). Classes I c (Spain), II c (Cuba) and II f (China) received honorable mentions.
There were also contests related to languages. In the contests on Francophone countries, Spain and European literature, the winner was Laura Rzeźwicka from II b. Michał Kowalski (I a) proved to be the best in the contest on Italy. Meanwhile, Aleksander Mróz from II a took first place in the contest on German-speaking countries, while Rafał Molenda from I Prywatne Gimnazjum won the contest on English-speaking countries.
The foreign-language song contest “Lingua et musica” was the crowning event of the celebration. The jury (comprising Aleksandra Sozańska-Kut, Agata Pińczuk-Burdzy, Magdalena Malińska and Sławomir Zimniak) awarded the third prize ex aequo to Michałowi Żakowi from II a and the group Elektryczny Murzyn (III a). Mateusz Jankowski from II d took second place. The first prize was awarded ex aequo to Noemi Kuśnierz and the trio The Voice Of Biochem (all from II c).
