The opening of the “My Favorite Photographs” exhibition took place on Thursday, November 3, at the II Secondary School in Bolesławiec. The exhibition featured works by the school’s students and Joanna Turczyńska, a German teacher and the author and coordinator of the “Photography – My Passion” project.
“This exhibition is the result of surveys conducted at our secondary school,” said Mirosław Sakowski, the school’s headmaster. “It turned out that around 50 of our students are interested in photography; we wanted to respond to their interests in this way.”
Thursday’s opening launched a series of exhibitions to be held at II LO. In addition, three competitions with prizes, a meeting with a well-known Bolesławiec photographer and pinhole photography workshops will be organized as part of the “Photography – My Passion” project.
“Photography is not a new art; it originated in the 19th century,” Joanna Turczyńska said during the exhibition opening. “But I think it is possible to risk saying that the 21st century will be the era of photography. It accompanies us everywhere: in the press, on the Internet and on billboards. It illustrates every event and records emotions. The project we will carry out at II LO is intended for photography enthusiasts and people who want to develop their passion. We give them the opportunity to present their work.”
