The Bolesławiec Photographic Society, the “Camera” Photographic Association and the Museum of Ceramics invite you to take part in the next edition of the photography competition “Bolesławiec Yesterday and Today”. Attractive prizes are provided for the winners.
Those taking part in the competition will each draw one photograph taken by Rudolf and Alojzy Skorupa after the Second World War. The participants’ task will be to find the places shown in the photographs and take contemporary photographs of them.
Participants will compete in two categories—professionals and amateurs. The jury will assess the accuracy of locating the objects and the artistic value of the photographs. The drawing of envelopes containing the tasks will take place on 22 and 23 October (from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) in the Museum of Ceramics building, Department of the History of the City, at 14 Kutuzowa Street. The deadline for submitting photographs is 31 October at 4:00 p.m..The results will be announced on 5 November at 11:00 a.m.—during the Open Meeting of Photography Enthusiasts in the Museum of Ceramics building at Kutuzowa Street.
The competition is one of the events marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Bolesławiec Photographic Society and the 40th anniversary of the organized photography movement in Bolesławiec. On 27 October, an exhibition entitled “The Bolesławiec Photography Movement after 1945” will open in the Museum of Ceramics building at Kutuzowa Street, presenting photographs depicting the city between 1945 and 2011. They come from the collections of the Museum of Ceramics, the Bolesławiec Photographic Society and private individuals. The photographs will include works by R. and A. Skorupa, H. Piotrowski, E. Opała, St. Kondratowicz and B. Marecki.
5 November The Bolesławiec Photographic Society, the “Camera” Photographic Association and the Museum of Ceramics also invite you to take part in the Open Meeting of Photography Enthusiasts, which will include a presentation of photographs submitted to the “Bolesławiec Yesterday and Today” competition and the presentation of prizes to the winners (11:00 a.m.), a lecture by Andrzej Pytliński entitled “Contemporary Problems of Artistic Handicraft in Photography” (12:00 p.m.), and a discussion devoted to issues in contemporary photography.
