The incident occurred on the evening of September 26, 2026. A 61-year-old woman, her partner and a 61-year-old man were staying in one of the apartments. They were all drinking alcohol. At one point, an argument broke out between the men. The reason? Jealousy over the aforementioned 61-year-old woman.
She reached for a knife
Investigators established that the woman, who was intoxicated, approached the arguing men. She then stabbed the 61-year-old man in the abdomen with a kitchen knife.
The injuries proved very serious. The man suffered a stab wound to the abdomen with evisceration of the intestines. He was taken to hospital, where surgery was necessary.
Officers from the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec arrested the suspect at the scene.
The woman was remanded in custody
After being brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zgorzelec, the 61-year-old woman was charged under Article 156 § 1 point 2 of the Criminal Code with causing serious bodily harm in the form of an illness that posed a real threat to life.
This offense carries a sentence of between 3 and 20 years in prison.
The woman did not admit to committing the alleged offense. She claimed that the man was stabbed accidentally.
At the request of the District Prosecutor in Zgorzelec, the District Court in Zgorzelec ordered the suspect to be held in temporary custody for three months.
The 61-year-old woman had not previously been convicted.
