Suspect charged with attempted murder

On Friday, the man was brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec. The prosecution charged him, among other offences, with attempting to murder an officer, causing serious bodily harm, violently assaulting a police officer and illegally possessing a firearm.

The 33-year-old admitted to the acts of which he was accused and gave explanations. The prosecutor applied to the court for his temporary detention for three months.

As reported by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, the suspect had previously been convicted multiple times in Germany. In 2024, he was convicted by a court in Bautzen, among other things, of an offence related to the illegal export or import of firearms, their parts and ammunition.

For the acts currently alleged against the 33-year-old, he faces a sentence ranging from 15 years’ imprisonment to life imprisonment.

The death of the shot police officer means that the legal classification of some of the charges against the suspect may change. The prosecution will decide the matter.

We will return to the case.
