Our Reader asked us to publicize the issue. In an email to the editorial office, she wrote: “I went for a walk on an autumn day that was very sunny. Between the villages of Mała Dąbrowa and Golnice [gmina Bolesławiec – przyp. red.] I came across an illegal dump. Concrete slabs, cracked bricks, remnants of hardened mortar, asbestos waste, bottles, car parts, carpets, tires, disposable plates, cups, forks, votive candles, plastic flowerpots and buckets are scattered there.” She added: “The sight left me utterly stunned – how can people litter so badly around their own homes?!”
Regarding the illegal dump, we contacted Mieczysław Bożek, the village head of Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka. He referred us to the municipal office. “The area where this illegal dump is located used to be what was known as a village waste collection point. This was back when waste containers had not yet been installed there. It appears that some municipal residents have still not abandoned certain habits,” says Monika Krosondowicz, an environmental protection inspector. “It is difficult to combat this practice. People litter not only on our plots of land, but also on land belonging to the Agricultural Property Agency and in forests.”
The official informed us that since July this year, the municipality has been sending requests for quotations to various companies. A decision on which company will clean up the area will probably be made next week.
