On 17 September 2026, a ceremony was held in Bolesławiec as part of the Living Memory March of Poles in Siberia. It commemorated Poles who were deported and exiled to Siberia and other territories of the Soviet Union.
The ceremony began in Bolesławiec Market Square. At 11:30 a.m., participants set off in a march towards the Municipal Cemetery, where the main part of the commemorations began at noon.
The event was attended by representatives of the local authorities, including Bolesławiec County Starost Tomasz Gabrysiak and Deputy Starost Patryk Hałka, members of the Association of Siberian Deportees, including its president, Maria Niemczuk, as well as invited guests and residents of Bolesławiec.
The Living Memory March of Poles in Siberia is an event commemorating the history of Poles’ deportations to the East and the fate of people affected by repression and exile.
