The incident took place on September 12, 2026, at around 10:00 p.m., on one of the streets in Świeradów-Zdrój. The prosecution is investigating the case against a 47-year-old resident of the town.

Investigators determined that the men were neighbors and had not previously been in conflict with each other. That evening, and for no apparent reason, an argument broke out between them.

During the quarrel, the neighbors allegedly insulted each other. At one point, the injured man approached the 47-year-old. The latter then stabbed his acquaintance twice with a knife.

One of the blows struck the chest area, while the other hit the back. The injuries proved serious enough for the injured man to be taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery.

The injuries resulted in a health impairment lasting longer than seven days. Investigators adopted a legal classification involving suspicion of an attempted infliction of serious bodily harm in the form of an illness posing a real threat to life.

The 47-year-old was detained by officers of the Świeradów-Zdrój Police Commissariat and then brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski. There, he was charged under Article 13 § 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 156 § 1 point 2 of the Criminal Code and Article 157 § 1 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 11 § 2 of the Criminal Code.

The alleged offense carries a penalty of between 3 and 20 years’ imprisonment.

The suspect partially admitted to committing the alleged offense and gave an explanation. He had not previously been convicted.

At the request of the District Prosecutor in Lwówek Śląski, the court ordered the 47-year-old to be held in temporary custody for three months.
