On September 16, 2026, a tragedy occurred at the construction site of a single-family home in Świeradów-Zdrój. As a result of the structure collapsing, a 23-year-old worker was partially crushed by concrete elements.
The incident occurred a few minutes after 3 p.m. According to preliminary findings, two workers were at the construction site at the time. The men were carrying out work related to shoring the ceiling of the second floor.
At one point, the structure collapsed. Concrete elements partially crushed one of the workers. The other man was in another part of the building and was not injured.
Rescuers fought for the 23-year-old’s life
Medical rescuers were the first to arrive at the scene, followed shortly afterward by firefighters. Together, they recovered the injured man from under the structural elements.
The 23-year-old’s condition was very serious, however. The man showed no signs of life, so cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started immediately.
The rescue operation lasted several dozen minutes. Before 5 p.m., the medical rescue team stopped further resuscitation because vital functions had not returned. The doctor present at the scene pronounced the 23-year-old worker dead.
Investigators are determining the causes and circumstances of the accident
