Two residents of Lubin were detained in connection with a serious incident that occurred in the city. Preliminary findings indicated that the perpetrators beat the victim, deprived him of his liberty and drove away with him in two cars.
Due to the suspected real threat to the man’s life and health, officers launched a wide-ranging search for both the victim and the people suspected of committing the crime.
Police quickly identified people who could be connected with the incident. Criminal investigators also found the two vehicles the wanted men were believed to have been using. The cars had been abandoned, and officers secured the evidentiary material found inside them.
At the same time, another patrol conducting activities in the case located the suspects elsewhere. They turned out to be two residents of Lubin, aged 33 and 34. Both were detained and taken to a police detention facility.
The victim was taken to hospital. The injuries found on him resulted in a health impairment lasting more than seven days.
Investigators’ findings indicate that the men allegedly beat the victim using a dangerous weapon and then, through violence, forced him to enter one of the vehicles. They then drove away in an unknown direction.
Police also determined that the detainees are directly linked to the football hooligan circles of Zagłębie Lubin.
The collected evidence was submitted to the prosecutor’s office. Both detainees were charged with beating someone using a dangerous weapon and depriving them of their liberty. The charges concern offences specified in Articles 159 and 189 of the Criminal Code.
At the investigators’ request, the court decided to place the 33- and 34-year-old men in pre-trial detention. Both men will spend the next three months in custody.
The court will decide their further fate.
