A driver travelling along the A4 motorway in the direction of Zgorzelec noticed a pedestrian walking along the road in the middle of the night. He alerted the police about the unusual and potentially dangerous situation. (The duty officer at the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec received the report after 2:00 a.m.).

A patrol from the Traffic Division of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec was sent to the scene. A pedestrian on the motorway posed a threat not only to himself, but also to drivers.

The police quickly found the man. The 20-year-old was walking in the roadside ditch. The officers intervened and checked the man’s details in police databases.

As it turned out, the night-time walk along the motorway was by no means the only problem faced by the 20-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County. It emerged that he was wanted by the District Court in Bolesławiec.

The man had a prison sentence to serve in connection with a conviction for theft. After his arrest, he was taken to a penitentiary, where he will spend nearly six months.

The driver’s report played an important role in this situation. Thanks to his reaction, the police were able to reach the pedestrian quickly.

The police remind the public that pedestrians on the motorway are exposed to serious danger. At the same time, their presence may pose a threat to other road users, so if such a situation is noticed, it is worth notifying the emergency services immediately.
