The City Hall confirmed the information. “I confirm that he will be here on Friday. More information soon,” Agnieszka Gergont, the spokeswoman for the mayor of Bolesławiec, told us.
For now, we do not know the details of the visit. It is also not known who invited Mateusz Morawiecki to Bolesławiec—whether it was the city's mayor, Piotr Roman, or Kornel Filipowicz, director of the Bolesławiec Cultural Center–International Ceramics Center. It is also possible that Prime Minister Morawiecki invited himself.
It is also not known exactly which events on the program the former prime minister will attend or whether he will be present at the official opening of the Ceramic Festival.
This year's festival will last five days. Ceramic fairs, demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions and concerts are planned in central Bolesławiec. Friday's musical program includes performances by, among others, the bands Nadija and Tabu.
Morawiecki's visit may also have an additional context related to Bolesławiec ceramics. Recently, the former prime minister published a recording in which he appealed to people to buy Polish ceramics and support domestic producers. In doing so, he referred to the story of the alleged “Chinese Bolesławiec.”
