At the railway crossing on Polna Street in Bolesławiec, a train collided with a truck. A group of frenzied football fans and counter-terrorism officers appeared at the scene. All of this took place as part of the simulated rescue operation “Kibic 2011” (an exercise ahead of Euro 2012), organized by Starostwo Powiatowe w Bolesławcu and Powiat Lwówecki in cooperation with Dolnośląski Urząd Wojewódzki.
Eighty police officers from the county police headquarters in Bolesławiec, Lwówek Śląski and Zgorzelec took part in the operation, along with officers of the Railway Protection Guard, soldiers, the Military Gendarmerie, bomb-disposal experts, firefighters, municipal guards and emergency medical services.
“The exercise was successfully completed. In the crisis situation, all services operated efficiently,” says Sebastian Kulbida, acting press officer of KPP in Bolesławiec. “The uniformed services expressed their willingness and need to participate in further activities, so that in the face of a real threat, cooperation could be just as effective as during the ‘Kibic 2011’ operation.”
