Professor Jan Miodek, a distinguished Wrocław linguist, visited the School Complex in Nowa Wieś on Monday, 5 September. The professor spoke, among other things, about mistakes that are increasingly appearing in the media and official speeches. He pointed out to the students that the form “mi” should not be used at the beginning of a sentence and that one should not say: “ciężka sytuacja” (“a heavy situation”), “ciężki przeciwnik” (“a heavy opponent”), or “ciężko przewidzieć” (“it is hard to predict”), because an illness or a bag can be heavy. He also explained where the name Śląsk comes from.

The professor’s lectures were very interesting and comprehensive. The institution’s students listened with interest to what the renowned linguist had to say. “We very much hope that Professor Miodek will remember our school and the wonderful young people who attend it fondly, and that perhaps he will visit us once again someday,” the meeting’s organizers emphasized.
