We were informed about the matter by residents in June this year, and we described the issue, among other places, in the article Tragedy in an apartment block. Residents raise the alarm: “This is a threat to all of us”.
Residents of the apartment block in Kraśnik Dolny, employees of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre, the property manager and the family of one of the residents repeatedly intervened in the case of an apartment where conditions posed a direct threat to the health and life not only of the resident, but also of all the building’s residents, including children.
– We do not know the cause of the fire; the fire service is investigating it – says Jarosław Molenda. – The fire broke out in the early morning. The owner of the apartment was not there; he had not been staying in the apartment for several weeks. None of the residents was injured – the property manager added.
The property manager himself made numerous attempts to resolve the problem: he repeatedly sent notifications to the relevant institutions and followed up on the need to take action in connection with residents’ reports. The matter was reported, among others, to the Municipal Social Welfare Centre, the Municipal Commission for the Prevention and Resolution of Alcohol-Related Problems and the State District Sanitary Inspector.
Despite the intervention of the local social welfare centre, the resident always refused to accept support, confirming this with his signature on a statement. The man told an employee of the centre that one of the former residents of Kraśnik Górny and a neighbour provided him with sufficient help. Since March 2022, the institution had taken numerous steps, offering the man assistance.
There was also a family tragedy in the background. The owner’s family situation is complicated, as we described in the article: “He was presented as the victim, and we as the worst ones.” Behind the door of the neglected apartment lies a long-standing family tragedy.
