The information about the ongoing negotiations was reported by the Japanese business daily “Nikkei.” According to the reports, Seven & i Holdings is discussing the purchase of a stake in Żabka Group worth billions of dollars.
The Japanese company confirmed that talks are indeed taking place, while emphasizing that no binding decisions regarding a potential transaction have been made at this stage.
Żabka Polska also commented on the matter. In a response provided to money.pl, the company said it does not comment on market speculation concerning potential transactions involving existing shares.
CVC Capital Partners remains the largest shareholder in Żabka Group, controlling 37.6% of the shares through Heket Topco. The chain’s operations are conducted in Poland.
Żabka Group is currently headed by Tomasz Suchański. As previously announced, Tomasz Blicharski will take over as chief executive in 2027.
So far, there is no information that the ongoing talks could affect the operation of Żabka stores, including outlets operating in Bolesławiec and throughout Bolesławiec County. Any potential change in the ownership structure would concern the company’s shareholding level, not the day-to-day operation of the stores.
If the negotiations result in the signing of an agreement, it will be an important step for one of the largest retail chains operating in Poland and another stage in the development of a brand also present in Bolesławiec. For now, however, both the investor and Żabka Group emphasize that talks are still ongoing and do not determine whether the transaction will be concluded.
