At around 4:00 a.m. on Monday, an incident occurred in one of the residential buildings in Chojnów. After receiving the report, police officers were sent to the scene, where they found a 28-year-old man with numerous bodily injuries in the stairwell.
The injured man was immediately provided with medical assistance and was then taken to hospital.
Officers from the Police Station in Chojnów immediately began intensive investigative work. The police secured traces and evidence, questioned witnesses, and checked all information that could help establish the course of the incident and identify the perpetrator.
The efforts quickly produced results. Later that same day, police officers established the identity of the person suspected of carrying out the attack and arrested a 31-year-old man. The evidence collected made it possible to charge him with attempted murder.
At the request of the police and the District Prosecutor in Złotoryja, the court ordered the suspect’s temporary detention for three months. This is the most severe preventive measure used in criminal proceedings.
Attempted murder is punishable by imprisonment for not less than 10 years, 25 years’ imprisonment, or life imprisonment.
The police emphasize that the suspect’s swift arrest was possible thanks to the officers’ immediate actions and intensive work securing traces and analyzing the evidence collected.
