Both local government officials announced their decisions on social media. As they emphasize, they disagree both with the decision to close the shelter and with the way it was made.

– Due to a series of decisions concerning the Przylasek Shelter that were not consulted with me as a member of the Board of the Kwisa Association of Municipalities, today I submitted my resignation from the position of board member. I learned from the media about the decision to close the animal shelter to visitors for a month. It was made unilaterally, rather than by the entire board, so I considered it justified to resign from my previous position – Aleksandra Chomicz wrote yesterday on the social media platform , the head of Lubań Municipality.

She also added:

My view on this matter is clear! I wholeheartedly support volunteering and walking dogs even seven days a week! However, my opinion as a board member was disregarded, just like the opinion of another board member, Mayor Joanna Świder. Therefore, my decision is irreversible and final!

A similar position was taken by Joanna Świder, mayor of Nowogrodziec:

I have also decided to resign from my position as a board member. I do not consent to decisions being made unilaterally, and I do not take responsibility for matters with which I disagree. On Monday, July 6, 2026, I submitted a request to increase the number of days and hours for walks. Everyone can see the result. I will present my actions in this matter on my profile.
