Police officers from the Traffic Division of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec conduct daily activities aimed at improving road safety. During yesterday’s checks, officers recorded a total of 25 offences related to exceeding the speed limit.

The most serious cases involved two young drivers who flagrantly disregarded the applicable regulations. Both were stopped outside a built-up area, where the speed limit is 90 km/h.

A 23-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County was travelling at over 180 km/h. For this serious violation, he was fined PLN 2,500 and received 15 penalty points.

The second person stopped was a 22-year-old resident of Legnica County. The man was driving at 150 km/h, for which the police issued him a fine of PLN 1,500 and 13 penalty points.

In both cases, the consequences went beyond fines and penalty points. Under the applicable regulations, both drivers lost their driving licences for three months.

The police remind the public that excessive speed has for years remained one of the most common causes of the most tragic road accidents. Officers appeal to drivers to observe the applicable speed limits and adapt their driving style to the conditions on the road.

A moment of recklessness can lead to irreversible consequences—for the driver as well as for other road users.
