The State Sanitary Inspection has published a warning concerning one batch of Bonitki Petit Beurre biscuits. The reason is the detection of elevated acrylamide levels, and experts assessed that consuming the indicated product may have a negative impact on consumers’ health.

The recall applies exclusively to the product bearing the following details:

  • product: Petit Beurre biscuits, 400 g
  • brand: Bonitki
  • batch number: 6104037121 01-10
  • best-before date: 13.04.2027
  • importer: YARYCH IMPORT EKSPORT Sp. z o.o., Katowice.

{During tests conducted by the State Sanitary Inspection, the reference level for acrylamide was found to be exceeded. Experts from the National Institute of Public Health PZH – National Research Institute subsequently prepared a risk assessment. On this basis, it was determined that consuming the indicated batch may have an adverse effect on health.

Acrylamide is a compound that forms naturally during the baking and thermal processing of products containing starch, including bread, biscuits and French fries. The applicable regulations do not set safety limits for this compound, but rather so-called reference levels, the exceedance of which requires a risk assessment to be carried out in each case.

The importer reported that the manufacturer is taking measures to keep acrylamide levels at the expected level. As indicated, these include, among other things, ongoing monitoring of baking parameters, the use of enzymes and periodic testing carried out by accredited laboratories.

At the same time, the Biedronka chain conducts its own monitoring of acrylamide levels in Bonitki biscuits and – according to the information provided – no exceedances of reference levels had previously been recorded.

Nevertheless, together with the supplier, a decision was made to withdraw the indicated batch from sale as a precautionary measure. The procedure began on 18 June 2026 and includes removing the product from the chain’s stores.

The State Sanitary Inspection is monitoring the recall.

What should consumers do?
