Summer Kaleidoscope 2026 – art workshops for children and young peopleREGISTRATION AND INFORMATION: 539 121 695/ 75 644 21 45 (from 22 June 2026)

Children and young people holding a valid Bolesławiec Resident Card (BKM) are entitled to participate free of charge in summer activities organised by BOK-MCC. Children and young people without a BKM may participate for a fee, in accordance with the current price list (PLN 10.00 per class).

ART WORKSHOPS – from 14 July to 30 July, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays (14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30 July), 10:00–11:30 a.m. A series of art classes for children aged 6–10, conducted in groups of up to 15 participants. The programme includes various art techniques (drawing, painting, collage and three-dimensional forms), as well as developing basic manual and creative skills. The classes are developmental and age-appropriate, with an emphasis on creative work, experimenting with materials, and developing imagination and manual dexterity. Instructor: Bogusława Piaskowska.

CERAMICS WORKSHOPS – 2 July 2026 and 3 July 2026, 10:00–11:30 a.m. “Summer with a dachshund” – creating a composition in ceramic material inspired by this distinctive dog breed. For participants aged 9–16. Instructor: Edyta Orlińska.

BREAKDANCE WORKSHOPS – the final two weeks of August, Mondays and Fridays (17, 21, 24 and 28 August), 4:00–5:00 p.m. Breakdance – open classes (for children aged 5 and over and young people, dance room, first floor). Instructor: Michał Jurasik.

K-pop dance workshops – 6 July and 10 August, 12:00–2:00 p.m. Energy, rhythm and choreographies inspired by the biggest stars of the Korean music scene! During the workshops, participants will learn basic steps and dance routines characteristic of K-pop, developing coordination, a sense of rhythm and the ability to work in a group. This is an excellent opportunity to spend time actively, have fun and experience the atmosphere of one of the most popular music trends in the world. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Stage and Voice Academy – Wednesdays in July (except 1 July), 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Classes combining voice work, stage movement and the basics of acting. Participants develop diction, voice projection, self-confidence and the ability to express emotions on stage through music and text interpretation. In a friendly atmosphere, they practise creativity, improvisation and teamwork, discovering the joy of stage performances. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Botanical Transfer – 13 July, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Amazing fun using gel plates. Participants will create images with water and forest motifs using plant material. Green volcano. For children aged 7 and over and young people.

Cyanotype – 7 July, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Cyanotype workshops are an extraordinary journey into the world of photography without a camera. Children will learn one of the oldest photographic techniques, using sunlight and special light-sensitive paper to create distinctive blue-and-white prints. Using leaves, flowers, feathers, stencils and their own compositions, they will create unique works while discovering basic phenomena related to light and chemical processes. This creative combination of art, experimentation and fun develops creativity and sensitivity to the surrounding natural world. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Linocut – 5 August, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. During the workshop, children will learn the basics of linocut – a traditional graphic technique involving the creation of prints from a hand-prepared block. Participants will design simple patterns, learn how graphics are made and create original works, developing creativity, imagination and manual skills. This is an excellent opportunity to discover the world of art by experimenting with form, texture and colour. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Instructor: Magdalena Miętkiewicz.

WORKSHOPS ON PAINTING GAME MINIATURES – 8 August (Saturday), 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Participants will learn the basics of modelling and painting miniatures used in board and wargames. They will learn how to prepare a model, apply primer, use various painting, shading and highlighting techniques, and bring out the smallest details. Under the instructor’s guidance, each participant will create a hand-painted miniature step by step, developing patience, precision, imagination and manual skills. RPG workshops – 1 August (Saturday), 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. The workshops introduce participants to the world of role-playing games, where stories are created together, participants take on unusual characters and make decisions that influence the course of the adventure. Under the guidance of the leader, participants will learn the basics of RPG mechanics, cooperation and improvisation, developing creativity, storytelling skills and teamwork in an atmosphere full of fun. Workshop on creating ELEMENTS of superhero costumes from EVA foam – 20 July, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Participants will learn about EVA foam – a material widely used by costume, prop and cosplay creators – and learn the basics of cutting, shaping and decorating it. Using materials available in almost every home, they will create original costume elements such as masks, shoulder pads, emblems and fantasy accessories. The classes show that impressive costumes can be made at low cost while developing creativity, imagination and the ability to use everyday objects in creative ways. This is an excellent opportunity to take on the role of a designer and discover how extraordinary creations can be made from simple materials. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Dance to Oriental music – 9 July, 4:00–5:30 p.m. This will be a journey into a world of rhythms that stimulate the imagination and encourage free movement. During the summer workshops, children will discover how stories can be told through gestures, steps and emotions. This is an ideal opportunity to combine fun and expression with the development of musicality in an Oriental atmosphere. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Fan dance – 16 July, 4:00–5:30 p.m. Learning to dance with a fan is a great summer adventure. During the workshop, participants will develop creativity, coordination and confidence while dancing with a prop. This is an ideal opportunity to try something new and fall in love with Oriental dance. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Instructor: Idalia Kowara Schmidt.

Punch needle – 10 July and 13 August, 10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. During the workshop, participants will learn the punch-needle technique, or loop embroidery made using a special needle. Step by step, they will learn to create soft, raised patterns and colourful compositions that can become interior decorations or original accessories. The classes develop patience, precision and creativity, while their relaxing nature makes them an excellent opportunity for creative rest. For children aged 10 and over and young people. Decoupage workshops – decorating trinket boxes – 6 August, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. During the workshop, participants will learn the decoupage technique, which involves decorating objects using paper motifs, paints and varnishes. Each participant will create their own unique jewellery box, choosing patterns and colours according to their own idea. The classes develop creativity, an eye for aesthetics and manual skills, resulting in a practical and unique handmade object. For children aged 10 and over and young people. Workshop on decorating eco-bags – painting, embroidery and appliqué – 17 July and 14 August, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. During the workshop, participants will decorate cotton eco-bags using fabric-painting and simple embroidery techniques. Each participant will create their own unique design, combining colours, patterns and textures according to their individual idea. The classes develop creativity, manual skills and an eye for aesthetics, while promoting an ecological and conscious approach to everyday objects. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Workshop on creating cold-porcelain key rings – 7 August, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. During the workshop, participants will learn how to create decorations from cold porcelain – a malleable mass that can be used to form small ornaments, flowers and figurines. Step by step, they will learn modelling, joining elements and finishing details while creating their own delicate and unique works. The classes develop patience, precision and spatial imagination, while providing great satisfaction from handmade decoration. For children aged 7 and over and young people. Workshop on sewing three-dimensional soft toys from patterns – 24 July. Exact times and dates will be scheduled after arrangements with external instructors. During the workshop, participants will learn the basics of hand sewing and working with ready-made patterns while creating their own three-dimensional soft toys. Step by step, they will learn to join elements, fill forms and finish details to create unique soft characters. The classes develop patience, precision and manual skills, while also providing the joy of creating a unique toy from scratch. For children aged 10 and over and young people. Zero Waste Workshop – a creative recycling zone – 31 July and 28 August, 10:00–11:30 a.m. During the workshop, children will have various art materials left over from other classes at their disposal – fabrics, paper, wool, decorative elements and many other “creative scraps”. In the spirit of zero waste, participants will create their own unique works, combining materials according to their imagination and ideas. The classes develop creativity, freedom of expression and independent thinking, while teaching that every material can be given a second life. Summer mornings for young viewers!

Summer is the time for cinema premieres as well as catching up on films. Our cinema screens will feature a variety of family offerings (animated and live-action) that will carry viewers into a magical, colourful world full of humour and positive values. Cinema entertains not only the youngest viewers but also mature audiences. There will therefore be plenty of good films for everyone. Every Wednesday in July at 12:00 p.m., we will screen films from our special summer programme:

We are starting the summer with preview screenings of the MINIONS, who decide to go to Hollywood to make their own horror film. VAIANA will also appear on the big screen in a live-action version. Summer blockbusters will also include ODYSSEY, directed by ChristopherNolan, and SPIDER-MAN, while the youngest viewers can enjoy PAW PATROL. There will also be no summer break for screenings held as part of the regular series – the DKF_BOK Film Discussion Club and the FILM CLUB FOR SENIORS.

Municipal Public Library – Knowledge Centre

GREEN SUMMER IN THE CITY – a programme of summer workshops and events at the Municipal Public Library – Knowledge Centre in Bolesławiec (July–August 2026)

The programme is aimed at children aged 7–10. All events related
to organising free time in the city during the summer holidays are free of charge. Registration is required for the classes.

19–23 August 2026, 12:00–2:00 p.m.: themed workshop programme for the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival

Mondays
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Library of Forest Stories – reading and art classes in the children’s and young people’s department, based on which we will jointly move into an extraordinary forest world full of mysteries, adventures and fascinating characters. After the literary section, children will take part in creative art activities. Using various materials, they will create their own forest works. The workshops will be an opportunity to develop reading interests and manual skills

12:00–2:00 p.m. From Tree to Paper – during the classes, participants will learn how paper is made
and how recycled materials can be reused. Working with used paper and other simple materials, they will create their own works and discover that things destined for disposal can be given a second life.

Tuesdays
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Nature Outside Your Window – classes prepared by the Municipal Centre for Environmental Education on the subject of nature. Participants will observe and learn basic information about plants, birds and insects that can be observed in the immediate area. They will create artworks using organic or waste materials and learn to make seed bombs and plant and repot potted plants.

12:00–2:00 p.m. Leaf Laboratory – scientific workshops during which participants look at the natural world from a completely new perspective. Using microscopes
and prepared samples, they observe details that normally remain invisible.
However, this is not only work under a coverslip – the classes also include simple experiments
and activities that help participants better understand how the world works.

Wednesdays
12:00–2:00 p.m. Forest Full of Ideas – creative workshops inspired both by the forest itself and by the participants’ unlimited imagination. It is a space for free creation using natural materials, associations and one’s own ideas

Thursdays
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Eco-deco – classes prepared by the Municipal Centre for Environmental Education. Art and technical classes: creating decorations, toys and useful items from waste materials (cardboard, wood, fabric, thread and yarn).

12:00–2:00 p.m. STEM: Nature in Motion – construction and science workshops during which participants investigate how various mechanisms inspired by nature work. Through logic puzzles, construction challenges and teamwork, they create their own solutions and test them
in practice.

Fridays
12:00–2:00 p.m. Forest Architects – construction workshops – participants take on the role of designers and builders. By creating their own structures, they develop spatial imagination and seek creative solutions inspired by nature.

  • Summer Terrace – library-style chillout. An outdoor relaxation zone
    available during library opening hours. The terrace will offer bookcrossing books, magazines, children’s toys and deckchairs.

  • June 2026 – Switch on your summer at the Knowledge Centre – a series of science demonstrations and experiments from the world of chemistry and the uses of artificial intelligence.
  • August 2026 – “Swarm of Knowledge” – a family picnic whose main theme this year will be trees and their role in urban space, including mitigating climate change.

  • Wheel of fortune – tree knowledge,
  • Creative stalls – free creation using wooden elements, a toddler zone (blocks and wooden colouring sheets), maxi forest puzzles (trees and shrubs), mini workshops on making seed bombs and more.
  • August 2026 – Switch off your summer at the Knowledge Centre – science demonstrations from the worlds of physics, chemistry and robotics.
  • Exhibition in the children’s and young people’s department:

Wangari Maathai – the woman who planted millions of trees. Wangari Maathai became known to the world as a dedicated and determined activist for the planet, women’s and human rights, freedom and democracy. Both in her native Kenya and in other African countries, she opposed deforestation and with the help of thousands of people, primarily women, planted trees. A picture book about the life and achievements of Wangari Maathai, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The Kenyan activist engaged African women in reforesting desertifying areas. During her lifetime, she led to the planting of 30 million trees, and the Green Belt Movement she founded continues her work.

  • 8 (Tuesday) at 5:00 p.m. Author meeting with Barbara Iskra Kozińska the author of books including “Dom nad Granicą” and “Czerwone niebo nad Wołyniem”. The meeting
    will be held to mark the fifth anniversary of the Kresy Corner.

The activities listed below will be free of charge. Participation requires advance reservation due to the limited number of places in the workshops (maximum 25 people). The programme is aimed at individuals and organised groups.

Centre of Old Pottery Techniques (14 Kutuzowa Street):

  • Summer ceramic plein-air workshop for children “Small and Great Journeys” (Wednesdays: 1 July, 8 July, 15 August, 22 July, 29 July, 5 August, 12 August and 26 August, 12:00 p.m.) – a series of ceramics workshops enabling participants to discover various ways of forming and decorating ceramic works. The meetings will focus on journeys through diverse, sometimes radically different, techniques for creating and decorating works made of clay – from relief compositions to fully three-dimensional pieces.

Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec (28/29 Zgorzelecka Street)

Recurring activities:

  • “Paper Thursdays – Fantastic Menagerie” (Thursdays: 2 July, 16 July and 30 July, 12:00 p.m.) – workshops during which participants will create paper figures of various animals and then decorate them with abstract motifs modelled on Art Nouveau ornaments found on richly decorated Bolesławiec ceramic products from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
  • “Treasures Sleeping in the Earth” (Fridays: 3 July, 17 July and 31 July, 12:00 p.m.) – educational classes introducing participants to the secrets of an archaeologist’s work. Under the supervision of a specialist, young participants will take part in a simulation of archaeological research at a site arranged in the park by the museum, and then reconstruct the artefacts found in the workshop.
  • “Games and Pastimes from Bygone Eras” (Tuesdays: 7 July, 21 July and 4 August, 12:00 p.m.) – activities enabling participants to learn about pastimes and ways of spending free time in the past, held both in the open park space and in the historic rooms of the von Pückler Palace. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at games with historical origins.
  • “Paper Thursdays – Bolesławiec Origami” (Thursdays: 9 July and 23 July, 12:00 p.m.) – workshops introducing the traditional Asian art of folding various figures and compositions from paper. The finished designs will then be decorated with motifs used in different periods on Bolesławiec ceramics.
  • “In the Old Pharmacy” (Fridays: 10 July and 14 August, 12:00 p.m.) – workshops during which participants will create scented sachets from various aromatic herbs. They will provide an opportunity to learn about the properties and uses of various plants and show how medicine based on herbal treatment developed in the past.
  • “Architects and Conservators” (Tuesdays: 14 July, 28 July and 11 August, 12:00 p.m.) – classes developing a sense of spatial design while introducing participants to the historical transformations of architecture in our city. Participants will create spatial compositions referring to the most important buildings of Bolesławiec and design, through drawings and building-block models, the development of the tenement houses around the market square, referring to the process of rebuilding them after the destruction of 1945.
  • “Ecology and Beauty” (Fridays: 24 July, 7 August and 28 August, 12:00 p.m.) – workshops decorating cotton bags using the stamping technique. Participants will design and apply individual, one-of-a-kind decorations to fabrics using stamps they make themselves. In addition to introducing the stamping technique known from Bolesławiec ceramic decoration, the classes will teach the basics of ecology by encouraging the use of reusable items and the practical reuse of waste.

One-off activities:

  • “From Prnjavor to Bolesławiec” (Thursday: 6 August, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.) – a city game commemorating the 80th anniversary of the arrival in Bolesławiec of the first Polish reemigrants from Bosnia, held at the Museum of Ceramics, in the park on Zgorzelecka Street and at the convent of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ. Participants will be able to put themselves in the position of resettled residents of the Bolesławiec Land by visiting stations corresponding to the procedures for receiving them in Bolesławiec and completing specified tasks. The activity is organised in cooperation with the Bolesławiec Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ.
  • “Ladies and Knights” (Thursday: 13 August, 12:00 p.m.) – interactive classes presenting the realities of life in the Middle Ages. Participants will be able to learn about and try on historical costumes, play old games and even test their skills in knightly duels using safe swords.
  • “At the Vocational Ceramics School” (Tuesday: 25 August, 12:00 p.m.) – an educational activity showing how the pre-war ceramics school modernised the process of ceramics production and ceramic education in Bolesławiec. Through games and play, participants will learn about the broad range of decorations introduced at the time, the differences between Bolesławiec stoneware and other types of ceramics, and will also try their hand at designing the forms and ornaments of vessels.
  • “In Napoleon’s Encampment” (Thursday: 27 August, 12:00 p.m.) – interactive classes introducing participants to the daily life of a soldier during the Napoleonic campaign. Participants will take on the role of recruits and learn about elements of military uniforms and equipment, as well as undergo training in shooting safe replicas of black-powder weapons.
  • Summer photo marathon “Around Bolesławiec with a Camera”(Saturday: 29 August, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.) – an all-day photography event conducted in several stages, concluding with the results and a presentation of the winning photographs; organised in cooperation with the “Camera” Photographic Association.

Ongoing activities:

  • Museum game “What Is Hidden in the Museum” (1 July–31 August) – an individual quiz encouraging participants to discover curiosities on the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of Ceramics like detectives and decipher a password. The game offers a pleasant way to learn about the history of Bolesławiec ceramics and the city of Bolesławiec, and participants will receive a symbolic prize – a souvenir coin from the Museum of Ceramics.
  • City game “On the Trail of Rosalia von Bonin’s Treasure” (1 July–31 August) – a game in which participants receive a set of riddles and clues leading to the discovery of the legendary treasure taken from a French general by Rosalia von Bonin in 1807 and hidden somewhere in the city. After solving all the puzzles correctly, players visiting the Museum of Ceramics may receive part of the discovered “treasure” – a souvenir city coin.

Temporary exhibitions:

  • Temporary exhibition “30th Anniversary of Joanna Mysłek-Michnowska’s Creative Work” (25 June–2 August), presenting the work of the art studio run by this artist at the Youth Cultural Centre since 1996, providing young people and adults from the Bolesławiec region with the opportunity to develop their passions and various creative talents.
  • Temporary exhibition “80th Anniversary of the “Bolesławiec” Ceramic Works (22 August–15 October), presenting an overview of the works produced by the plant and the profiles of the designers of forms and decorations at the oldest ceramics plant in Bolesławiec.

Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre

MOSiR’s main goals are to promote a healthy lifestyle, foster peer integration and provide safe conditions for active recreation. A priority element of the programme is summer activities co-financed by the Municipal Programme for the Prevention and Resolution of Alcohol-Related Problems, which effectively combine physical activity with prevention.

Throughout the summer holidays, free sports and recreation classes will be organised every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Municipal Stadium on Spółdzielcza Street, offering young residents a variety of games and physical activities.

At the Summer Swimming Pool on Spacerowa Street, Monday through Friday children will find plenty of water activities. Every day at 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. organised activities with animators begin there, and an additional surprise for participants is a specially prepared zone with free popcorn. Admission to these events is free for holders of the Bolesławiec Resident Card, with free admission to the pool area at 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. available to the first ten people with such a card at each of these times.

Bolesławiec ORKA Water Park and Bolesławiec Saltwater Baths – a summer ticket for children and young people under 18 priced at PLN 10.00 with a BKM.
