The incident took place in Bolesławiec County. Officers from the Traffic Division of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec stopped a 37-year-old resident of Warta Bolesławiecka commune for a roadside check. He was driving a passenger car despite being subject to driving bans.
As officers established, the man had driven to a petrol station, where he intended to refuel the car and do some shopping. During the roadside check, the police checked the driver's details in their systems. It then emerged that the 37-year-old was subject to two active court-ordered driving bans issued by the Bolesławiec court.
The findings showed that the man should not have got behind the wheel until July 2026. Despite the restrictions in force, he decided to drive, exposing himself to criminal liability.
The driver was detained and then brought before the court under an expedited procedure. The court handed down a conviction. One of the most severe consequences was a lifetime ban on driving any motor vehicles.
That was not the only penalty. The man was also ordered to pay PLN 10,000 to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance.
The police remind the public that failure to comply with a court-ordered driving ban constitutes a crime. People who disregard final court rulings must expect severe consequences, including imprisonment and additional driving bans.
