During rush hour, getting around a congested city is exceptionally difficult. It is not only traffic jams and driving-school cars that cause problems; they should be forgiven for driving slowly. It is worse when you encounter a cyclist who, despite a convenient bike path, rides onto the roadway, where it is impossible to overtake them.
The delivery van driver reacted sharply to such a cyclist, who ignored the path on the pavement and slowed down car traffic on Asnyka Street. He shouted at the cyclist, rather impolitely, to move onto the bike path.
Bike paths and pedestrian-and-cycle routes in Bolesławiec
The Municipality of Bolesławiec obtained a permit to build bike paths in 2007. Since then, about 30 km of them have been built in the city. The city authorities are systematically expanding this network as part of the “Development of the Cycling Road Network” project.
In 2012, 3.7 km of new paths were built. New sections were created, among other places, along Tysiąclecia Avenue (from the roundabout in Kruszyn to the School Complex), enabling travel to and from the city centre 24.
In 2025–2026, the “Development of the Cycling Road Network in the City of Bolesławiec” project is being implemented. On 30 December 2025, the Municipality of Bolesławiec signed an agreement for co-financing this project from EU funds (European Funds for Lower Silesia 2021–2027). It provides for:
- Stage I – 1.279 km of pedestrian-and-cycle infrastructure completed
- Stage II – 6.804 km of cycling road network planned 36
