A serious failure of railway traffic control equipment at the Wrocław Grabiszyn junction station paralysed train services in the Wrocław area today. The fault occurred in the morning, and its effects are being felt by passengers travelling to and from Wrocław Główny in virtually all directions.
As Andrzej Padniewski from the Press Office of Koleje Dolnośląskie reports, around thirty trains have been cancelled. Delays across the network range from approximately twenty to sixty minutes. The disruptions affect trains travelling from the directions of Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Wołów, Oleśnica and Rawicz.
The situation is particularly difficult on the Wrocław Główny–Trzebnica line. All trains on this route have been cancelled until 2:00 p.m. Koleje Dolnośląskie has, however, arranged replacement bus services.
– We have extended the replacement buses running between Trzebnica and Wrocław Zakrzów to Wrocław Psie Pole station – explains Andrzej Padniewski. – At Wrocław Psie Pole station, passengers can continue their journey by train towards Wrocław Główny. These are trains arriving from Oleśnica, Ostrów Wielkopolski, Krotoszyn or Milicz.
Technical services of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe are working to remove the failure. According to preliminary estimates, the repair work is expected to be completed between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Once the equipment is operational again, train services will gradually return to normal, but passengers should expect disruptions for several hours after the failure has been repaired.
Koleje Dolnośląskie urges passengers to follow current announcements on information boards at stations and in the passenger information system.
