During an operation conducted by officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police, officers stopped a passenger car for inspection. On a stretch with a 90 km/h speed limit, the driver was travelling at 138 km/h.

During the roadside inspection, the man tried to mislead the officers and provided his brother’s details. However, the police quickly verified his identity and established that the person behind the wheel was a 50-year-old man from Bolesławiec County.

It turned out that the reason for his behaviour was an earlier administrative decision revoking his driving privileges.

The man hoped that providing false details would allow him to avoid responsibility for driving despite the ban.

The 50-year-old will now be held responsible both for the traffic offences he committed and for the offence of driving a vehicle after his driving privileges had been revoked. Under the applicable regulations, he faces a fine, restriction of liberty, or even up to two years in prison.

The police remind the public that excessive speed remains one of the leading causes of the most tragic road accidents. Officers also stress that attempts to mislead the police during inspections usually result in additional criminal consequences.
