Since July 2025, the home of a married couple from Bolesławiec County has also become a home for little Daria. The girl, who is the granddaughter of the wife’s brother, joined a family that, despite its initial concerns, opened its doors and hearts to her.
“The decision to take Daria in was very important to us, but I won’t hide the fact that it was accompanied by fear,” Daria’s foster mother admits. “We knew that new challenges and enormous responsibility lay ahead—responsibility that would change the daily life of our entire family.”
Together with her husband, she is raising three children of their own—aged 19, 15 and 13. The question of how the teenagers would adapt to the new situation was one of the concerns that kept the parents awake at night.
“We wondered whether they would accept Daria and whether we would be able to create a stable and safe place for her,” they recall today. “Those concerns were natural. But the truth turned out to be more beautiful than we could have imagined.”
The children welcomed little Daria with enormous warmth. From the very first days, they surrounded her with affection and care.
“Today, when I look at their relationship, I am often moved to tears,” the mother says. “Small gestures, help with everyday activities, playing together and spontaneous care—all of this shows how strong a bond has formed between them.”
The new caregivers’ most important goal was to provide Daria with safety and the feeling that she had found herself in a place full of peace and love.
“We wanted her to be able to discover the world from its good side and develop in an atmosphere of understanding and stability,” the foster mother explains. “With each passing day, we see that it is working. Daria is opening up more and more, gaining trust and finding her place in our family.”
Today, the foster parents have no doubts—although the beginning was difficult and full of uncertainty, their decision was one of the most important and beautiful of their lives.
“Our home has become a place where everyone has their own place, while mutual care and closeness are the foundations of our everyday life,” they say about their life.
