1 May 2026 was a special date—on that day, Mrs Leokadia Kielar, a resident of Bolesławiec, celebrated her 100th birthday. It was a beautiful and rare milestone, providing an opportunity for a meeting filled with emotion, warmth and reflection on the remarkable life of the birthday celebrant.
On the eve of the celebration, 30 April, Mrs Leokadia welcomed guests. Among them was the mayor of Bolesławiec, Piotr Roman, who offered the distinguished celebrant his warmest congratulations and expressed his deep appreciation for her long life, rich in experiences. The ceremony was also attended by the head of the Civil Registry Office, Beata Skrzypek, the head of the ZUS Inspectorate in Bolesławiec, Aneta Karaban, as well as her niece, a friend and a social carer.
Mrs Leokadia’s life story is one of strength, perseverance and a positive spirit. Born on 1 May 1926 in Trzęsów near Kalisz, she experienced the difficult years of the war as a young girl. Deported twice during the occupation, she managed to survive those dramatic times, showing extraordinary determination. After the war, in 1949, she came to Bolesławiec—and it was here that she found her place in the world.
She spent her entire adult life connected with the city, both privately and professionally. After graduating from hotel school in Jelenia Góra, she worked for many years as a receptionist at the Piast Hotel. She did not end her professional career until she was 70.
Mrs Leokadia is the mother of one son, grandmother of four grandchildren and great-grandmother of two great-grandchildren. For years, she cultivated her allotment garden with passion, and together with her husband travelled around Poland by motorcycle, discovering the country’s charms. To this day, she remains curious about the world—she is interested in politics, follows current events, reads the press and carefully observes the reality around her.
A 100th birthday is not merely a number—it is above all a testament to a life filled with experience, work, love and an indomitable spirit.
On the occasion of this extraordinary milestone, we offer Mrs Leokadia our warmest wishes for health, peace, joy every day and many more moments spent with her loved ones.
