The incident occurred on Sunday, April 19, at around 4:00 p.m. The duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Lubin received a report of a dangerous situation in one of the city’s apartments.

According to investigators’ findings, the woman’s former partner entered through an open window and, despite being told to leave, had no intention of doing so. He attacked the woman first. He allegedly insulted her using offensive words and then violated her bodily integrity.

A moment later, the aggressor took out his anger on a 45-year-old man who was in the apartment. According to police, the attacker punched and kicked him, and repeatedly stabbed him in the arm, which the victim used to shield himself from the blows.

The suspect fled the scene when he heard that the police were being called. Officers immediately began operational efforts. Shortly after the attack, they located the suspect in the allotment gardens in Lubin.

The 35-year-old tried to hide in a garden shed. Officers found items taken from the woman’s apartment on him, including a mobile phone, apartment keys and car keys.

The woman’s condition was not life-threatening or dangerous to her health. The 45-year-old sustained significantly more serious injuries; he was taken to hospital and underwent surgery.

Police reported that the detainee had previously been recorded in police files and had served a prison sentence for an offense against life and health. After being brought before the prosecutor’s office, he was charged, and the court ordered three months of pre-trial detention.

The man will be held liable, among other things, under Article 156 §1 point 2 of the Penal Code, namely for causing serious bodily harm. This offense carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison. Due to his prior convictions and the fact that he acted under recidivist conditions, the sentence may be higher.
