The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate reported the detection of the bacteria Salmonella in one batch of beef tartare sold in Poland. The product in question is Tatar wołowy Kraina Mięs, 200 g, which was available in Biedronka stores. Consuming contaminated food may lead to food poisoning, so consumers have been urged to check their packages immediately.

The warning concerns a specific batch of the product:

  • Batch number: 0992104
  • Use-by date: 21.04.2026
  • Manufacturer: Zakłady Mięsne Łuków S.A.

Salmonella in meat. The product has been withdrawn from stores

After receiving information about the non-compliance, the manufacturer initiated a procedure to withdraw the specified batch from the market. The distributor, Jeronimo Martins Polska S.A., removed the product from Biedronka stores and published a notice for customers.

Official food-control authorities are supervising the entire product withdrawal process.

GIS warns consumers: do not eat

Sanitary authorities advise not to consume the product from the batch covered by the notice. If the tartare is at home, it is best to throw it away or return it according to the store’s procedure.

If the product has been consumed and concerning symptoms appear, contact a doctor.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection

Salmonella infection may cause:

  • diarrhea,
  • abdominal pain,
  • nausea and vomiting,
  • fever,
  • weakness.

Symptoms usually appear several hours or several days after consuming contaminated food.

Food-recall notices appear regularly, so it is worth checking products purchased in stores on an ongoing basis. If you have Tatar wołowy Kraina Mięs 200 g at home with batch number 0992104, do not eat it.
