On the Istotne.pl portal, from June 28 to July 1, fans of football in Bolesławiec could ask questions about the present and future of BKS Bobrzanie. Interest in the club’s situation is very high. Fans asked around 50 questions. The questions were highly varied and often very critical. One even concerned the price that would have to be paid to purchase the club.

As promised earlier, we are publishing the questions and answers provided by the BKS president and board members. Statements that were not questions have been omitted. Thank you for all the questions. More information about BKS will follow soon.

Chairman:
The senior team is only one of BKS’s many teams. In addition, the children and young people play very well and achieve considerable success. It is good that the club trains them. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to give up on the “older” men and devote yourselves entirely to the youth?

BKS: We would like to have only homegrown players in the squad. Unfortunately, most players who reach junior age limit leave to study and give up football or decide to play in the places where they study.

Konik garbusex:
A question for Mr. Woch. In your opinion, is the team under coach Cilinski making progress? If so, what kind? Examples.

Progress can be seen in the way the team plays. Unfortunately, this has not translated into sporting results.

Parent of a young footballer:
I agree with Chairman’s opinion and question. Does the club board sufficiently care for the development of the youngest teams (Żaki, Orliki)? It has long been known that what a child absorbs when young stays with them when older. Please list examples of such support separately for each children’s age group.

The basic support for the groups mentioned is the employment of coaches training the Żaki and Orliki groups. The club covers transport costs related to taking individual groups to organized tournaments. Every year we organize approximately four events for our youngest groups. 2011 is the first year of training in the Żaki category.

Mazi1989:
And my question is: When will the board resign and graciously never return?

The board has already resigned once—in late 2010—but the resignation was not accepted by the Club’s General Meeting.

Darek:
So what happens next? What are the plans for BKS for next season? Which players will be considered? Juniors or the current players? Who will be the coach? Yours sincerely.

The plan is to compete in every possible group. Everyone willing to play for the club will be considered. Marcin Ciliński will remain the coach.

Senior:
The club’s philosophy should change completely. Let us consider that for approximately 15–20 years no outstanding footballer has emerged from BKS—the last was Zb. Szewczyk. Do you think there were no other talents during that time? This primarily shows the very poor work with children and youth /apart from M. Szapiel/? Anyone who saw the archaic, pointless, technically weak training sessions led by P. Zapiór and knows something about football will know the answer to why things are as they are now. Young or older juniors “fight” against Leśna, Nowogrodziec, etc. They will learn nothing from them. No results, but the youth coaches, including Mr. Stasiu, are untouchable! Time for change! Coaches such as Mr. Bernacki, Mr. Wójtowicz, Mr. Lechowski and Mr. Skwarek must work with the young players. They are worth paying well, because over time it will pay off handsomely.

A good coach should be paid well—but where should the funds come from?

Lolee:
Does BKS focus on the junior players?

Yes, but how much?

Wojtas:
I am the parent of a BKS footballer
1. Who is responsible for the Spartan conditions in the changing rooms at the stadium by the swimming pools? I will not even mention the changing room—or rather, the Belarusian-built shed—on Rajska Street.
2. Is it true that the city charges the club fees for children’s use of the stadium?
3. What was the reason the president did not support the youth players’ trip to an international tournament?

1. All changing rooms and sports facilities belong to MOSiR Bolesławiec, and that institution is responsible for their condition.
2. Fees were supposed to be introduced at the beginning of 2011. To this day, everything remains suspended in limbo. Until June 2011, the club did not pay for using sports facilities in Bolesławiec.
3. This question should be put to the President.

Adam:
What was the club’s annual budget? I mean the senior team, of course. Will the club board be held accountable for the wasted money?

Was it, or is it? In 2010, approximately PLN 157,000 was allocated to the senior team (PLN 68,000 in city funding and PLN 89,000 obtained from sponsors). In 2011, the city grant for competitive sport amounts to PLN 62,500. The club board is held accountable for every fund obtained—but which funds were wasted?

Fan:
BKS received PLN 80,000 for training youth teams. How are these grants spent? Please present an accounting of the grant.

For youth teams, we obtained a grant of PLN 70,000 for 2011. The grant is spent in accordance with the submitted and approved cost estimate for carrying out the task. Every grant is accounted for at the end of the year, and this one will also be accounted for then. Therefore, it is impossible to present an accounting of an annual grant while it is still in progress.

BKS expert from the inside:
1. Will the board resign immediately?
2. Will the current board immediately dismiss coach Ciliński?
3. Will introducing the junior team to “M-ki” and maintaining it at a good level year after year finally become the priority of the current board, so that it has appropriately trained players for the first team instead of supplying nearby villages?
4. Will the board staff the youth teams with top-level coaches—for appropriate, of course, money—since such coaches exist?

1. No.
2. No.
3. How can the board promote the team to “M-ki?” Only the players, through their play and attitude, can earn such promotion.
4. Yes—we will staff all youth teams with professional coaches as soon as we have the financial resources to employ them.

Rolnik:
When will this sorry excuse for a little club in this sorry excuse for a sport in this sorry excuse for a small town be dissolved?

Never.

Fan:
The city has now lost so much money. Mr. Piotr Roman does not like sport and does not see that there are much better clubs than BKS (namely MKS Bolesłavia Bolesławiec and taekwondo). These clubs earn the most points and prestige for Bolesławiec by representing the city. And what do they get in return? We cannot travel to some competitions because the club has no money. For example, this weekend the track-and-field athletes went to the Polish Junior Championships in Toruń in a private minibus. So my question, and request at the same time, is this: Could the money for BKS be reduced and allocated to the athletics club instead?

Please direct this question to the President. The city authorities decide how the funds are distributed. I believe individual sports should neither be compared with nor equated to team sports.

Jacek:
1. Will the President resign, and when?
2. Why, after this disaster, was there not even an apology to the fans?
3. Is it true that Mr. Ciliński is to remain coach next season? If so, what else must he do to be dismissed immediately?
4. Will there be any reinforcements in the squad to return to the fourth division, or will most players leave the “sinking ship”? Are efforts already under way to keep the best players?
5. Is there any vision or chance of obtaining a decent sponsor?
Regards, Jacek.

1. I have already resigned once—the resignation was rejected.
2. This is sport—today you are on top, tomorrow at the bottom. I believe we should draw conclusions from this defeat and fight to return to the fourth division.
3. Yes, that is true.
4. Yes, efforts and talks with players are under way. Most players have declared that they want to remain at the club and fight for a return to the fourth division. We will be forced to say goodbye to some.
5. There is no vision.

Genius:
How much would be needed to buy BKS?

BKS is nearly 60 years of history, which can be supported but cannot be bought.

Prorok:
How much does Mr. Woch pay for advertisements on the stadium fence, and please present receipts for the money paid to the players.

The advertising is paid for by NORMSTAHL Polska Sp. z o.o. Invoices are issued and paid one year in advance by bank transfer to the club’s account. The amount is a trade secret and only NORMSTAHL Polska can disclose it. All receipts for money spent on players are held by the club’s accounting office. In 2011, only travel costs to training sessions and matches were reimbursed.

anty […]:
Will the club continue to HUMILIATE ITSELF and make people pay admission to the stadium to watch this rubbish?

The club does not force anyone to pay. Those who want to attend the match pay. Matches in the regional league will also require tickets, as at all nearby stadiums.

Trenejro:
My questions are as follows:
1. Why did the President (board) keep coach Ciliński in his position for so long, even though it was clear after the autumn round that he could not cope (see his place in the table versus the pre-season objectives)?
2. Another question concerning the “coach.” Rumor has it that Ciliński will still be on the bench next season (following the principle “if you broke it, fix it”), which raises the question: Is the President sure that Ciliński will not relegate BKS to the “A” class? This is not a joke, because if someone had asked you last year whether you feared relegation, you would probably have laughed at them.
3. More about the “coach.” If it is true and Ciliński will lead the team next season, how many matches must he lose before he is dismissed? I ask because I would like to know, so we do not wake up with our hand in the chamber pot (see the A class). Contrary to appearances, it will not be easy in the “O” class, and I dare say it may be harder than in the fourth division (bones will creak in any case).
4. Regarding the “website”: does the board intend to do anything about administering the official club website? Apart from a few pieces of information about the Orliki, nothing happens there—the results, tables and photos are not updated, and there is not even basic information about the club.
5. My last question concerns the stadium: in view of playing in the regional class, does the team deserve to play at the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street? It seems to me that the pitch on Rajska Street is perfectly suited to hosting Victoria Ruszów, Lotnik Jeżów Sudecki or GKS Raciborowice, with all due respect to those teams. I simply mean BKS’s players and the fact that they do not deserve to play at Spółdzielcza.
Regards, Trenejro.

1. There was no suitable successor. No coach can guarantee success.
2. Yes, I would have laughed at him, but this is sport and anything can happen.
3. Trenejro, if you have a formula for success or know a coach who guarantees it, the club doors are wide open and the president’s chair is waiting for you.
4. Since the club website was launched, its administrator has been the club president. As a result of smearing and negative reactions to his work in this area, he stopped updating the website regularly—the club is looking for a new person to run the club website on a voluntary basis.
5. Matches will be played at the Municipal Stadium out of respect for the handful of loyal fans.

Pyta-cz:
My question is as follows:
What experience in sports management do the board members have? Did they manage another club before joining BKS? If so, what successes did that club have?
Question no. 2: Is it true that some senior players were paid for playing in the fifth tier (the Ekstraklasa plus four divisions)? If so, how much? Please publish the earnings of each BKS player.

Their only experience is many years of work at the club; as for question no. 2, we have already answered it.

Wiechu:
1. What guided the board in reappointing Mr. Cieliński?
2. Please provide a breakdown of the club’s expenditure, comparing money spent on the first team with that spent on the youth teams.
3. What does the board consider its priority for next season?
4. How does the board assess the club’s work with youth players?
5. Are the coaches working with the youth teams in any way held accountable for their work, and are any objectives set for them before the season begins?
6. Has the club taken any action to promote football and the club among young people?
7. How does the board intend to persuade the city council and Mr. Roman to provide money to BKS?
8. Does the board have any alternative ideas for raising money?
9. What will tickets cost for regional-league matches, and what does the board intend to do about such low attendance at first-team matches?
10. Has the club searched for a new coach, or was Mr. Ciliński always the first choice?

1. We believe that despite the mediocre sporting result, the team made footballing progress. Is changing the coach a formula for success?
2. 2010: first team PLN 157,000, youth teams PLN 119,000.
3. Playing in all youth groups and maintaining the first team.
4. The work with youth is assessed positively. Every year all our youth teams finish “on the podium.” It is very difficult to assess whether this is the maximum our youth can achieve. Perhaps other coaches would obtain better results. But those coaches are unavailable, as are the funds to employ them.
5. The objective of every coach is the best and most effective play by the team they lead.
6. Recruitment is announced every year for all groups. The abundance of other forms of entertainment also affects interest in football. BKS Bobrzanie is the only club in the Jelenia Góra district to have registered a full complement of teams for youth competitions.
7. BKS is not only a senior team but, above all, youth groups that achieve success (this season, two district championships and two runners-up finishes), which seems sufficient proof and reason for broader public support and greater interest from the City Council.
8. Every year the board obtains increasingly larger funds, which are still insufficient for the club to function normally. Nevertheless, last season we were the poorest club in the fourth division.
9. There will be only regular tickets costing PLN 4; women and children enter free of charge.
10. We held talks with several people. Unfortunately, none accepted the financial terms the club was able to offer.

BKS fan:
Why are the president and his entourage not ashamed and are destroying football in Bolesławiec? Someone wrote above that only six or seven people attend junior training sessions—sad, but why is this happening? What has the board done to encourage young people to play football, and how does it promote football among young people if interest is so low? What else must happen before the gentlemen on the board give up their inept efforts to build a strong position for the club in the region? At present, BKS is one great laughingstock in the region; its traditions can be forgotten. How does the club intend to use the fact of Euro 2012? Do the gentlemen on the board have any idea for this club at all, or have they operated from the beginning on the basis of “it may work or it may not”?

I believe football is a discipline that does not require promotion. A decline in the number of children and young people wanting to play this sport can be seen at all clubs. As an interesting fact, I can mention that as of July 5, only our club had expressed a willingness to participate in the district-level competition for younger juniors. Whether we will play remains to be seen—the reason is the lack of teams willing to participate. I am certain that the board members will step aside as soon as “professionals” appear.

Curious:
Does BKS need a club board? Clubs in the regional class do not have such a body, and here evidently little people need somewhere to boost their egos. What consequences will the president face for bringing the club to rock bottom? Can receipts showing what the municipal grants were spent on be provided? How were the out-of-town players paid—are there receipts, did they pay tax, and how much were the footballers paid?

Every club has a board. These are requirements of the National Court Register and the Club’s Statutes. The General Meeting of Club Members will decide on consequences concerning the president. The relevant municipal authorities—the Social Department of the Bolesławiec Municipal Office—settle the grants, and all required documents have been submitted there. Players were reimbursed for travel costs to training sessions and matches in the form of travel expense claims, which are also included in the aforementioned documents.
