Preliminary findings indicate that a 20-year-old resident of Lubań County, driving an Audi, failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions. As a result, he lost control of the vehicle, which left the road, entered a roadside ditch and hit a tree with great force.

Four people were travelling in the car. The most tragic consequences were suffered by a 17-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County, who died at the scene. Two other people—a 16-year-old girl and a 26-year-old passenger—were transported to hospital.

Police determined that the driver should not have been driving at all. The man was subject to a court-imposed driving ban. Although he was sober, blood was taken from him for further testing. He was detained, and the car was secured in a police parking lot.

Investigators are currently carrying out activities aimed at thoroughly clarifying all the circumstances of the incident. Establishing the course of the accident and any additional factors that may have contributed to it will be crucial.

Police emphasize that this tragedy is another example of how little it takes for a fatal road incident to occur. Excessive speed, disregard for regulations and a lack of responsibility can lead to irreversible consequences.

Officers appeal to drivers to exercise caution, observe speed limits and strictly comply with all applicable bans. Every decision made behind the wheel can affect the life and health of other road users.
