Update 12:04
As we were told at the Bolesławiec ZUS office, employees are preparing to strike. At present, our office is operating normally.
As Paweł Skiersinis informed us:
(…) ZUS employees in Bolesławiec today supported the protest action organized by trade unions at the ZUS headquarters in Warsaw. The protesters’ main demands are pay rises and decent wages.
The protest at the headquarters of the Social Insurance Institution in Warsaw has been ongoing for several days. Trade unionists are occupying the employer’s headquarters, demanding genuine talks and concrete decisions regarding pay and working conditions.
Why did the protest break out?
According to OPZZ, the immediate reason for escalating the protest was the lack of an agreement in the pay negotiations: – According to information provided by the employer, the talks concerned the distribution of funds resulting from a 3% increase in the wage fund. The employer proposed a raise of PLN 180 per position, which, in the trade unions’ view, is clearly insufficient and does not correspond to employees’ actual needs.
Employees say: “We’ve had enough”
According to the trade unionists, the protest is the result of “many months of ignoring employee demands and the lack of genuine social dialogue.” The issue is the growing burden of duties.
How long will it last?
The trade unionists announce that they will remain at the ZUS headquarters until genuine negotiations begin with the participation of the government side.
What do the employees expect?
- decent wages for all ZUS employees,
- improved working conditions and reduced overload of duties,
- genuine social dialogue with the participation of the government side.
