Eugenia Wolska, a well-known teacher, social activist and longtime chairwoman of the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens’ Council, has died. She was 93.

She was one of the best-known figures in the city’s local senior and educational communities. For years, she was involved in efforts to improve the quality of life of older people and integrate residents of different generations.

As chairwoman of the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens’ Council, she co-created and initiated numerous projects aimed at seniors. These included the “senior map”—a list of institutions and places offering support to older people—the “Senior with a Junior in Front of the Monitor” computer workshops, and efforts to streamline hospital procedures for senior patients. She also initiated the “Capture in Time” literary competition.

Eugenia Wolska was also the founder of the Teachers’ Club and the “Carpe Diem” association, which she led for many years. She organized meetings, lectures, cultural events and integration trips. Participants particularly remembered initiatives such as the “Mystery of Bread” and numerous activities that strengthened ties within the teaching and senior communities.

Her many years of work were recognized by the city authorities. During her 90th birthday celebration in 2023, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman highlighted her educational achievements, social activity and contribution to the development of local culture. Eugenia Wolska was, among other honors, a recipient of the “Meritorious for the City of Bolesławiec” title and the “Meritorious Cultural Activist” badge.

The funeral service will be held on April 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the municipal cemetery in Bolesławiec.
