Police officers from the Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Bolesławcu were contacted by more residents of Bolesławiec County who had fallen victim to scammers. The Komenda: – One of the victims is a 29-year-old man who was persuaded to generate and provide a code through an application. As a result of the perpetrators’ actions, he lost PLN 900.
Another person, convinced they were ordering branded footwear, received a parcel containing goods from a different manufacturer that did not match the offer. Meanwhile, a Bolesławiec resident lost more than PLN 300 while purchasing a diagnostic tester—the ordered product was never delivered.
Another incident occurred at one of the companies: a cash-on-delivery parcel addressed to the owner was delivered. Acting in good faith, an employee paid for and accepted the shipment. It turned out, however, that the company’s owner had not ordered anything.
The greatest losses were suffered by a man who wanted to invest in shares of a Polish company. Officers: – Convinced that the offer was attractive, the victim made more than a dozen bank transfers, losing a total of PLN 35,000.
Another person was defrauded through an online messenger. KPP:
Impersonating a family member, the perpetrator asked the victim to generate and provide codes, which led to the loss of money.
How not to get scammed?
The police appeal for particular caution when using the Internet, for codes not to be shared, and for shopping and investment offers to be carefully verified.
