At the request of the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office, the court remanded a 40-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County in custody for three months. He is suspected of persistently harassing his ex-wife, threatening to murder her and setting fire to a vehicle belonging to her.
– The investigation established that the victim had divorced the suspect – explains Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra. – The perpetrator did not want to accept it.
From October 2025 to 13 March 2026, he persistently harassed the woman. To this end, he repeatedly called the victim at various times, attempting to contact her, and sent her numerous SMS messages.
During the phone calls, he threatened his ex-wife with killing her, setting fire to her house and destroying her car. He also repeatedly threw stones at the windows of her apartment.
Moreover, on 12 March 2026, while the victim was driving home, he blocked her path, forcing her to stop. Prosecutor:
He then punched the windows of her car, and during the night of 13–14 March 2026, he set fire to her vehicle. The former husband’s conduct caused the woman to feel tormented and threatened, and significantly violated her privacy.
The suspect was charged. He faces up to eight years in prison
The man did not admit to committing the alleged offenses. He refused to give an explanation. He had no previous convictions.
