Drone for SON. A Gift Warmly Received Like Support for People with Disabilities

Katarzyna Grzelak, an expert on the Labour Market, Education and Lifelong Learning Team at the Regional Council for Social Dialogue, visited the SON board with a gift.

“I came with flowers for such exceptional women,” said Katarzyna Grzelak. “We recently celebrated Women’s Day. Spending a belated Women’s Day with the Association of People with Disabilities in Bolesławiec was a fantastic way to spend the time. These women care for nearly 600 people from the entire Bolesławiec district. They are wonderful, hardworking and exceptional, and I plan to work with them,” Katarzyna Grzelak added.

The drone received by the Association is a kind of symbol. The aim is for SON to be more visible and modern, and to show itself in all its glory. This is because it has been operating since the late 1990s and, despite limited opportunities and resources, carries out a great deal of work.

People with disabilities can be active in the Association, as can able-bodied people—both allies and supporters. SON’s strength lies in its members, as well as its new board: president Bożena Piszcz, Grażyna Wróbel —vice-president, Grażyna Zięba —secretary, and members Krystyna Zalewska and Bernardyna Lorych.

In 2026, SON will once again provide assistance with trips to rehabilitation stays, attended by approximately 400 people. Integration events, trips and meetings are also planned.

“We appeal to all residents of the district,” Grażyna Zięba said at the meeting. “Please look around your immediate neighbourhood to see whether there is someone lonely or ill who will not contact us on their own, but whom we can help,” the community activist added, encouraging people to contact SON.
