On Saturday, March 7, the first team of BKS began the spring round of the Jelenia Góra district league. During the winter break, the team changed coaches – Radosław Szajwaj was replaced by Krzysztof Kownacki.
The Bolesławiec team played several friendly matches during the preparation period. In the first test match, it lost to Łużyce Lubań 1:2, but the following matches were much better. The Spółdzielcza-based team defeated Rataj Paszowice 6:2, Górnik Węgliniec 1:0 and Orzeł Mysłakowice 6:0.
A Quiet First Half
The Saturday match was played in beautiful spring weather. In the first half, little happened on the pitch at the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street in Bolesławiec. Fans saw plenty of competition in midfield, but clear scoring chances were few and far between.
BKS took advantage of one of the few opportunities. In the 38th minute, after an individual move, Kacper Łaba beat Lechia’s goalkeeper to give the hosts a 1:0 lead.
Seven Goals After the Break
The second half began late. The reason was an intervention by paramedics following a serious hand injury suffered by one of the Piechowice players. The footballer was taken to hospital.
After play resumed, the fans witnessed a true goal festival – as many as seven goals were scored in the second half.
In the 51st minute, Sebastian Ratajczak made it 2:0. Nine minutes later, in the 60th minute, it was already 3:0 after a goal by Hubert Kędzierski.
When it seemed that the hosts were confidently heading for victory, the visitors came back into the game. In the 65th minute, Dawid Sienkowiec started the comeback (3:1), and in the 77th minute Krystian Kilimnik scored Lechia’s second goal (3:2).
A Nervy Finish
The real emotions began in the closing stages. In the 80th minute Damian Gorgul equalised at 3:3.
Moments later, the hosts were weakened further. Goalkeeper Tomasz Hajduczek caught the ball outside the penalty area and received a second yellow card, meaning he had to leave the pitch.
Despite being a player down, BKS took the lead again. In the 84th minute Sebastian Ratajczak scored his second goal of the match, making it 4:3.
Shortly afterwards, Bartosz Turkiewicz received another second yellow card, and consequently a red card. Despite being down to nine men, the closing stages belonged to the Bolesławiec side.
In the 93rd minute, Paweł Złotorowicz set the final score at 5:3 for BKS.
