A Reader wrote to us:

At Osiedle Kwiatowe, on Różana Street, there is a parking lot with various wrecked cars standing there.

And she immediately added: – There was one; now a third one has been added.

She also emphasized:

Reported to the city office, but perhaps it could be publicized?

She added that she had also called the Municipal Police in Bolesławiec. (“But it’s not their responsibility.”) She also summed up:

There is a playground and a kindergarten next to the parking lot. Children’s safety must be ensured.

Wrecked cars in the parking lot near the kindergarten and playground can be dangerous for several reasons:

  1. Risk to children – sharp edges, broken glass and protruding parts can easily injure children playing nearby. Young children often run around vehicles and do not notice the dangers.
  2. Obstructed visibility – damaged cars parked in various places can restrict visibility for drivers and caregivers, increasing the risk of a collision or accident.
  3. Risk of fire or leakage of hazardous substances – old, wrecked cars may leak fuel, oil or other chemicals that are toxic and flammable.
  4. Attracting undesirable behavior – abandoned cars may become places for climbing or playing hide-and-seek, and even targets for vandalism or drinking alcohol, creating an additional danger for children.
  5. Delaying emergency services’ response – in the event of an accident or sudden emergency, wrecks blocking the parking lot may make it difficult for fire engines or ambulances to enter.

We appeal for action.
