The construction of a transport hub in Bolesławiec, planned for several years, will not go ahead. As Robert Rzepnicki, the city’s second deputy mayor, told an istotne.pl reader Robert Rzepnicki, the investment was halted due to high costs, a lack of external funding and opposition from residents of the building at 1 Bolesława Chrobrego Street, next to which the hub was to be built.

The transport hub was intended to be one of the elements of public transport development in the city. It was expected to make transfers between different means of transport easier and improve traffic organization in this part of Bolesławiec. We previously reported on plans for this investment on the istotne.pl portal.

The city has announced an alternative solution, however. The construction of a Park and Ride car park (P&R) on Kościuszki Street is planned for 2027–2028. The car park is expected to accommodate approximately 100 passenger cars. The investment will also include supporting infrastructure, including maneuvering lanes and horizontal and vertical road markings.

The project also includes the creation of a bus turnaround for municipal transport. According to officials, this location will enable the car park to be integrated with public transport, encouraging drivers to leave their cars and continue their journeys by bus.

The investment is to be carried out on plots numbered 127/4, 127/5, 127/6 and 136 in the Bolesławiec-4 cadastral district. So far, no detailed schedule for preparing the documentation or estimated cost of the project has been provided.

The decision to abandon the transport hub represents a change to the previous plans for developing transport infrastructure in this part of the city. The authorities of Bolesławiec nevertheless point out that the Park and Ride car park, together with the bus turnaround, is intended to serve a similar purpose by enabling residents to use municipal transport conveniently.
