Update: 2026-02-25

The council adopted the resolution with 17 votes in favour, while 1 person voted against.

On 20 February, we reported:

One of the items on the agenda of the February session of the Bolesławiec City Council will be a vote on a draft resolution concerning the naming of a park in the city of Bolesławiec. If the councillors adopt the resolution, which in this situation appears to be merely a formality, the site will become Solidarity Park.

The document’s justification states:

The Field Organisation of NSZZ “SOLIDARITY” in Bolesławiec County and the NIEZŁOMNI Association in Bolesławiec approached the Mayor of Bolesławiec with an initiative to name the area comprising plot no. 237 (precinct 0009-Bolesławiec-9) “Solidarity Park”. The justification for the application stated (...) “Since the Solidarity Monument and the Settlers’ Obelisk are located in this area.”

The applicants added:

This area will in the future help society place symbols and monuments representing our identity. In addition, a genuine park serving future generations could be created there.
