An agreement has been reached between Gmina Miejska Bolesławiec and Szpital św. Łukasza w Bolesławcu concerning the provision of land for design purposes. It concerns a plot of approximately 0.82 ha, located at the market site on Jeleniogórska Street in Bolesławiec, which will be used to carry out the project “Construction of a multifunctional building—a facility serving protective functions with a medical and technological section (MDS), an underground garage and a connector linking the facility to the main complex of Szpital św. Łukasza w Bolesławcu.”

This is a very important step toward strengthening the city’s local security system and medical infrastructure. Under the agreement, the hospital will begin design work, including, in particular, preparing documentation for the construction of a class S-O shelter.

Key characteristics of the facility:

  • three-story building (one underground floor and two above-ground floors);
  • usable area: 3,853.91 m².

More about the facility

Shelter:

  • underground floor: a garage with U-1 concealment function, adaptable into a 60-bed hospital ward, a hybrid operating room, a three-person intensive care room, and a connector to the existing hospital building;
  • ground floor: outpatient specialist care (clinics), serving as an MDS temporary shelter for 382 people;
  • first floor: outpatient specialist care (clinics) and offices, serving as an MDS temporary shelter for 526 people.

The new facility will be well connected—a newly built road from Leśna Street will provide direct access to the market site, while a connector running across/under Jeleniogórska Street will link the building to the hospital’s main complex.

The funds for preparing the design documentation, amounting to PLN 500,000, come from the Population Protection and Civil Defence Programme.

As emphasized by the director of Szpital św. Łukasza w Bolesławcu, Kamil Barczyk, the total cost of the investment is estimated at approximately PLN 60 million. Its construction is also to be financed from the Population Protection and Civil Defence Programme.

This investment will strengthen the city’s resilience to crises in the future, improve residents’ safety and create modern medical and technological infrastructure for the entire region.
