Concert Blues Night in Bolesławiec, organized by the BNiB Initiative Group and BOK-MCC, took place on Thursday, June 16, at Piłsudski Square. That day, bands from Bolesławiec performed on stage (Knowbody Knows, Mercedes Band and B.Combo), the Warsaw group 20 Mil od Miasta, Poznań’s Mean Machine, and Elch Band from Germany.

However, the audience was primarily waiting for Chłopaki z Ferajny. The band includes, among others, Maciej Tylenda (formerly associated with Blues Beer), Rafał „Łąka” Wiese, as well as Wojciech Szajwaj and Tomasz Bubieńczyk from the well-known group Sumptuastic.

The band gave an excellent concert. The musicians clearly enjoyed themselves on stage. It was evident that the music they create is their passion. Songs by Dżem (“Czerwony jak cegła,” “Whisky” and “Harley mój”), Breakout’s “Oni zaraz przyjdą tu” and the Rolling Stones’ “Honky Tonk Woman” were just some of the hits heard during Thursday’s performance.

“Blues has always been present in Bolesławiec. People have always played it and loved it. And they still want to listen to it, especially in the age of plastic,” Tylenda told us during the first edition of Blues Night in Bolesławiec. “I absorbed the blues with my mother’s milk. For me, it is the only real music, flowing from the depths of the heart. There is no pretending here, because there cannot be any. Rysiek Riedel sang about his life, about pain; about how difficult it is to live. That is what the blues is based on, which is why I love it—it is very real.”
