The director, when asked about the cost of the events he planned for 2026, throws up his hands.
– We are currently unable to provide the amount allocated to each of the listed cultural events due to the lack of comprehensive information about the revenue and expenditure associated with these activities – says director Kornel Filipowicz. – In addition to subsidies and project funds obtained during the year, BOK – MCC allocates its own generated financial resources to cultural events every year – the head of the institution informs us.
How can any task be planned in a budget without even an approximate estimate? For the media, local government and residents, cost transparency is the basis for trusting that a local-government institution is well managed. The lack of such data may weaken trust and make it more difficult to assess the activities of an institution with an annual budget of over 10,000,000 zlotys.
What events has Kornel Filipowicz planned for 2026?
As usual, in 2026 BOK – MCC will organize the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival, City Days, the Star of Kindness event and a ceremony presenting the mayor's awards for promoting the city. The center also holds recurring workshops for residents of all ages. Initiatives proposed by outside parties, which BOK – MCC will carry out, are also planned.
The information provided by Kornel Filipowicz indicates that the institution he manages will largely handle events organized by others in 2026, including the County Starost Office. Kornel Filipowicz included on the list of events co-organized by his institution, among others, the county Integration Christmas Eve Gathering for People with Disabilities and celebrations marking National Independence Day.
There is also an oddity on the list of organized events – it includes enrollment for the center's workshops (sic!). It was given the catchy title: "Social Action: Sign Up! BOK – MCC Opens Its Workshops for You." The cost of this “event” has not been estimated either.
