III Liceum Oxpress was represented by three first-year students: Laura Witnik, Mikołaj Skwara and Jan Obrycki. Since September, their mentor has been Paweł Kruglik – a mathematics teacher at III LO.

The national stage of the 9th edition of the European Statistics Competition took place from 24 November to 16 December 2025. Its official organizer at the European level is Eurostat, while the Central Statistical Office is responsible for organizing the national section.

More than a thousand students forming 330 teams took part in the nationwide section and competed for advancement to the final rounds – only the 30 best teams from across Poland qualified. Teams from countries including Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Germany and Spain confirmed their participation in the Competition.

The III LO Oxpress team achieved 100% of the points and advanced to the national final. – We are extremely pleased to be among the 30 best teams in Poland in a competition with such a global reach. This is another success for III Liceum Oxpress, all the more significant because it has been achieved in such a difficult field – says Paweł Kruglik, who prepared the students for the Competition.

– Our team tackled tasks in advanced mathematics and statistics. In addition to analyzing and interpreting statistical data, Laura, Jan and Mikołaj had to face tasks involving statistical inference, probability theory and the normal distribution; they also solved problems concerning univariate and bivariate random variables and the correlation coefficient. Although statistics is a difficult field and goes far beyond the level of knowledge taught at secondary school, the students performed excellently. They solved all the tasks flawlessly – adds the proud teacher.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for the LO Oxpress competitors in the next stage of the Competition. Once again, congratulations on advancing to such an elite group of the best statistics and mathematics teams in Poland. Let us remember that the students represent not only III Liceum Oxpress, but also our city – Bolesławiec.
